How to request flexible working hours

First check your staff handbook to see if your employer has a policy on flexible working. This should detail and explain whether you are eligible, what type of flexible working arrangement you can request, who you should address it to, when meetings and a decision will be made and how to appeal.

If your employer does not have a flexible working policy you can utilise the government’s application form, which is available on line here, together with guidance. This outlines the basic information you are required to give and the overall timeframe by which your employer should have dealt with your request.
