Can I renew my business lease?

on Tuesday, 23 June 2015. Posted in Commercial

Most business leases are protected by the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954. This means that the lease will continue past the end of the term and, subject to the landlord's rights of opposition, the tenant has the right to a new lease. The process is commenced by either landlord or tenant serving notice.

It is possible to waive these rights by signing a declaration prior to the lease being granted. The lease will usually refer to this.
