Family Mediation Services
Family mediation is a voluntary process where a couple choose to involve an impartial third person to help them resolve issues between themselves on such matters as finances, children, divorce and separation.
Mediation is a confidential process which allows clients to talk issues through and make proposals which, if mediation breaks down, cannot be raised in any subsequent court proceedings.
The Mediator may only break that confidentiality if they believe that either client or a relevant child is suffering or is likely to suffer significant harm, or they are given information concerning financial fraud (e.g. money-laundering, tax evasion.)
During mediation on financial issues both clients are required to provide full information of their income and capital position.
Our family lawyers are trained mediators so we can also offer co-mediation in appropriate circumstances. Tina Coward and Erica Cottrell are listed on the Family Mediation Council website which you can access at familymediationcouncil.org.uk.
Our free initial half hour meeting is available to all new family law clients including those who would like to enquire about mediation.
Please note we do not offer publicly funded mediation. If your gross income is below £2657 and your net income is below £733 per month (after certain specific deductions) you may qualify. We suggest you use the legal aid on-line calculator to work out if you would be eligible at gov.uk/check-legal-aid.
Download the pdf below for more information and if you would like to enquire about mediation please complete the Mediation Referral Form or telephone 01722 410664.
