Financial Provision & Divorce Settlements
Financial issues associated with divorce or civil partnership dissolution can be an area of significant dispute. We provide advice on all the criteria which should be considered so that your individual circumstances are properly assessed and a financial settlement for yourself, including retirement, and your children can be reached.
Financial proceedings through the court can be expensive but are sometimes necessary when it is not possible to resolve the financial issues by solicitor negotiation, mediation or through the collaborative process. We will keep you advised of the cost of the proceedings and we can discuss funding with you.
Usually maintenance orders for children cannot be made by the court so unless an agreement is reached, an application to the Child Support Agency/Child Maintenance Service may be necessary. We can help you in negotiating an amount to be paid on a voluntary basis and give you advice as to what amount you may receive or have to pay.
