Resolving Issues Following Relationship Breakdown
There are different ways to resolve issues with your partner and you can choose the most appropriate for your family.
- Family mediation - a voluntary process where a couple (or other family members) meet with a neutral third person, a mediator, to help them resolve issues themselves on matters such as finances, children, divorce and separation. The mediator's role is not to give advice but to facilitate discussions.
- Collaborative law - where you and your partner wish to resolve matters as amicably as possible and agree not to go to court. Any issues are resolved by meetings attended by both of you and your lawyer rather than lengthy correspondence.
- Family law solicitors - can assist you by negotiating on your behalf, with or without court proceedings.
At Sampson Coward our family solicitors are trained as collaborative laywers and mediators so we can offer co-mediation in appropriate circumstances - more information is available on our website.
